Selkirk Half-Wit Ride Pictures and Planning Tools

The Selkirk International Loop is a scenic byway around the Selkirk Mountains from eastern Washington, southern BC, and western Idaho. http://www.selkirkloop.org

A few of the ColVelo riders have been eyeing this route for bicycling and we decided to take a few days to explore the north half. We quickly had a small group committed (Amy, Jason, Bev, Mike B, Wayne, and Sandi) to ride from Kettle to Trail, Nelson, and Creston – and then back over HWY 3 to Metaline Falls. It was a great 4-Day, approximately 200-mile ride from Sept 11th to 14th. We were lucky to have no mishaps and amazing weather with clear skies, although with a few chilly mornings.

We took a lot of pictures are we were meandering around (some while we were rolling!) and have published a few in this album: https://www.icloud.com/photostream/#A85oqs3qd8T3X

You can see from the pictures (did you look yet?) that it was a great trip. And you can ask Sandi about the interesting wild life along the lake!

We did a quite a bit of planning for the routes and trip, including keeping the group small enough to all fit into 1 vehicle, which proved helpful when we needed to make-up time to the ferry. I’d love to hear that others were able to leverage our work and have a great time and I’d be happy to chat with anyone thinking of doing this route.
